Tai Isaf

Just for families not groups.  Minimum of 4 nights stay.

Tai Isaf is a very remote farmhouse on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park about 7 miles from Bala and reached by a 2 mile long rough track. It is located in 600 acres of private land with moorland and valleys and views, also our lake Llyn Creini for swimming, fishing or boating.

Have a look at the Tyn Llyn clip, this is the landscape and our lake and up to the fort “Caer Euni” taken from high so rather flattens the appearance- amateur drone operator!

We can provide a 4×4 unless you have one, please ask us any questions first.

The space
It is a good idea to talk to us first, especially for bookings in the winter months, it is sometimes cut off. You can find us by doing a search for caerau gardens. This is a very old Farmhouse set in an isolated position 2 miles down a rough track. A 4×4 is needed but we have a 4×4 that we lend, just to travel to and from the house, we charge £15 a day for that to cover fuel and repairs. The water supply is from the lake so we provide containers of water for drinking and cooking.

Rustic but cosy, it is full of character but there will be cobwebs! Stone floors downstairs and a large woodburner. There is a boot-room with clothes washing facilities with a shower and loo off that (very practical in the countryside). The sitting room is large as is the kitchen and there is even a dishwasher but you are stepping back in time here.

It is set in rolling countryside in the lee of a hill. We have 600 acres for you to explore including a lake for fishing or swimming, you can make use of the kayak or rowing boat and borrow fishing equipment. Walk for a mile or two along the high ground where you have a panoramic view over the Berwyn Mountains, our lake and also Bala Lake with Cader Idris in the distance. Go to the end of our farm, past the stone circle to the site of the flint age and Roman fort, take a picnic!

We live at Caerau Uchaf. Here we have a Garden and Cafe open for 6 months of the year and this is where you will meet us when you arrive. You are welcome to make use of the gardens and our catering and children will love the woods here with the fort and zip wire

We are on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and all that has to offer but a lot of people just stay here with trips into Bala for provisions. If you are using our 4×4 you will swap over to your car at our house which is on the way out from tai isaf, over a mile away.

If this is your first visit we will take you down. It is helpful if you can arrive on time so we say check in is 2 to 6pm. This is not always possible but keeping us informed would be appreciated as we are not always in in the evening.

Guest access
Space is what there is no shortage of! The lake and surroundings are the main thing and there are no neighbours to mention, you may see a couple of walkers perhaps. You have access to the land, the lake and all the space you need round the house.

Other things to note
The water supply is from the lake with drinking water provided in containers, its quite unreliable but works most of the time! I will have to come and find the blockage otherwise! There is a TV but the satelite signal is dodgy, there is a DVD player. Phone and internet signal is similarly weak but there is usually some and you can always come to us for wifi.
We would be grateful if you could strip the beds when you leave, we often have quite a short time to sort everything out before the next guests. Thank you.
